A business notebook that converts into a tablet, the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5 is sleek, feature-packed, eminently customizable, and…a bit expensive. It starts at $1,499 and can quickly venture north of $2,000 once you select some of the flashiest add-ons, such as a Core i7 processor and a unique, gorgeous anti-glare display. The version I’m reviewing here is $2,349, which is an eye-watering sum compared with consumer 2-in-1 convertible laptops, but right at home among competing business models like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga and Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1. The EliteBook x360 1040 G5 is impressive, though HP’s own slightly smaller EliteBook x360 1030 G3 remains our top pick for business 2-in-1s.
